The PLS Electronic Training Program is an affiliate of PLS Staffing Solutions. We offer consulting to graduate students for the following fields: assembly, rework, repair & process implementation for electronic contract manufacturing companies.

Course Descriptions

13 WEEKS HAND SOLDERING TRAINING PROGRAM

PLS Electronic Training Program is Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Elementary & Secondary Education.

This course is designed for students that require the hands-on skill and knowledge to reliably remove and install many types of the most complex components. Each session is comprised of lectures with videos, overheads, and hands on training. The lecture provides a brief overview of ESD precautions, soldering techniques, and flux considerations under IPC-A-610 certification criteria. In the hands on session, each student is provided with PC Boards and components to assemble at an individual work station. Students are closely supervised by an licensed instructor. Students will learn techniques for the installation and removal of through-hole and surface mount components and how to properly evaluate solder joints. The course utilizes Pace Solder & De-solder Stations, using a variety of different style tips for installation and removal of components

  • Metcal Soldering Station
  • Pace Re-work Station
  • Microscope
  • Magnified class with light
  • Hand tools: pliers, cutters, lead former, solder wire, de-soldering pump, tweezers

Certificate

Upon completion of the course each student receives a certification stating that they have demonstrated the competent skills necessary for meeting the demands for manufacturing industry, and they understand the science of high quality PC Board solder rework. The PLS Electronic Training Program will continue to support our students and candidates until they have successfully been placed in a position within the Electronics Industries. All courses include an Attendance sheet, Course Evaluation forms, completed tests and Certificates for those who pass the test.
